Tyler & Meg Engagement - Oklahoma Wedding Photographer

Early Sunday Morning

Exploring new locations

a field of trees, in the fog.

It was a perfect day for a photo shoot.

Tyler & Meg are two of my new favorite people.  I actually just photographed their wedding this last weekend and I wanted to share their engagement session.  I feel like it really showcases what I love to do which is capturing the love that my couples have for each other, while laughing, kissing & just having a good time.

Tyler & Meg were up for anything and everything.  We were in fields in Arcadia, laying on the ground, walking down the streets of Guthrie.  We just had a great time together.   I was in love with this shoot so here is a sample of the entire shoot.

2014 Engagements in Review - Oklahoma Photographer

Can you believe it is 2015?!

2014 was a tough year for me, My Grandma passed away at the end of 2013 and 2014 was just a time to go through it.  I learned a lot about myself & I realized I am just going to have to go through this because I don't think you completely ever get over the loss of someone you were close to.  My reason for saying this is because going through the loss of my Grandma I was able to do what I love.   I don't even know if my clients knew how much it meant to do what I love and be around people who were happy and in love.

As I am preparing for the 2015 photography year I thought going down memory lane would be fun. These are 2014s Jared Wanzer photography top model engagement couples.  I had the best time with each of them & thank you for bringing joy to my life through a tough year, you all really do me a lot to me.

My goal with every engagement shoot is to make it real, romantic and about the couple.   I want each shoot to show the love they share for each other & be a day they remember, an experience.   I think we were able to do that in each of these engagement sessions.    If you are engaged or know someone that is engaged, I would love to meet with you and tell you more about why I do what I do & add you to the calendar.

Thank you for being apart of 2014, I enjoyed meeting each of you.  I look forward to our paths crossing again!! Happy New Year!!

Kenny & Greg Portraits - San Mateo California - Traveling Photographer

San Mateo, California,

my third time to visit,

& some much needed time away.

I have the best Uncles, Uncle Kenny (UK) & Uncle Greg (UG).  They have been together for over 20 years.  We always have the best time when we are together.   I just absolutely love to be around them. They are the most generous, caring and uplifting people to be around.  This year more than ever capturing memories, moments in time with the people I love & of the people I love has become even more important to me and I was thankful to be able to take pictures of my uncles together at their house in San Mateo, California.

Now, I think I could get used to being a California photographer.  The weather is perfect, palm trees everywhere, the houses are gorgeous & I think the air just might be a letter fresher there.  I love it. I could just walk around and take photos all day long.  I hope to someday photograph a lot of palm trees in the background a lot of my photos, new goal.

My Uncle Kenny has been on of those people in my life that I hope to one day be the Uncle he has been to me.  This past December we spent almost everyday together with my Grandma before she passed away.  I feel like when you go through something like that together with someone you just have this unspoken closeness that you will have forever.  If we only lived closer to each other.

My Uncle Greg is also one of my favorite people to be around.  He quite possibly might be the nicest person I have ever met.  He is always so positive and uplifting to be around. I am just very thankful to have them both in my life.

I was able to visit this last month and it was perfect.  We did this photo shoot of the two of them one evening with their dog Rembrant. It was a perfect California evening & we had a good time.

During my visit to the wonderful state of California I learned that my motto, "Have Camera Will Travel" means I need to be spending a lot more time in California taking pictures!!

Darla & Destiny Portraits - Oklahoma Photographer

It was a beautiful evening in Oklahoma.  I met Darla and her cute as a button daughter, Destiny, at Hafer Park in Edmond.  The sun was setting and the lighting was just perfect for a family photo shoot.  Destiny was full of energy & they both !  I loved her personality, she was funny and full of expressions.  I think we captured them all.

You can tell Darla & Destiny make a great team.  Darla is doing such a great job raising Destiny.  She is such a good kid you can just tell in these photos she has a good heart.

I told Darla when the shoot was over she could be a little model.  I am happy to say that Destinys modeling career started as a Jared Wanzer Photography Top Model.

Jared Wanzer Party of 1 Book Club - 6

Donald Miller wrote the forward to the book Love Does by Bob Goff & a line directly from the forward says,

"We don't like to put hands and feet on love.  When love is a theory, it's safe, it's free of risk.  But love in the brain changes nothing.  Bob believes that love is too beautiful a concept to keep locked up behind a forehead like  a prisoner."

...& that is exactly what the entire book is about. The author Bob Goff tells his personal stories about putting love into action.

I read this book about a year ago. I should have titled this blog Jared Wanzer Party of 1 Book Club - The Original because this was the first book that as an adult I read and thought wow I like reading. I wasn't the biggest fan of reading growing up, at a young I struggled with reading so it was just never my favorite things to do & I honestly most of the books we were assigned to read in school I either didn't understand or just were not interesting to me. I never vocalized that but I felt it.

I was visiting my friends The Caldwell Family in Oregon about this time last year & they had just moved to Oregon shortly before I came to visit.  They are some of my best friends & so I had heard them talk about this book but like I said I wasn't one to just go buy a book and honestly if I had I would have to just added it to my shelf of decorative books on my book shelf.  They had the book at their house and said I should read it & after the first page I was in.  They had recently made some big changes in their lives and a lot of them came after reading this book.

I honestly have always felt like love is an action not just something you say but somethings you do, Love Does not - Love Says, Love Thinks about doing.  This book made me really stop and think about my life and things I should being doing not just putting on a to-do-list.

In the Introduction of Love Does it says,

"Living a life fully engaged and full of whimsy and the kind of things that love does is something most people plan to do, but along the way they just kind of forget.  Their dreams become one of those "we'll go there next time" deferrals.  The sad thing is, for many there is no "next time" because passing on the chance to cross over is an overall attitude toward life rather than a single decision.  They need a change of attitude, not more opportunities."

I bought about 10-15 copies of this book when I arrived home from visiting my friends, after reading it in just a couple of days. I was handing this book out like candy. About a month ago I bought myself a copy because I never ended up keeping any of the copies & I just wanted to reread it, I think it is a book I am going to reread about this time every year, just for a refresher.

Love Does truly made me live my life differently.  I don't think I was living a horrible life I just felt like I wanted to do more.  This book really inspired me to get out there and do just that.

just a few on my list -

Volunteer

Find ways to do what I have always wanted to do which is be a traveling photographer.

Reconnect with people I have known along the way.

Be more involved, more present, more engaged.

Make more time for things that matter.

Try new things.

This book will truly encourage you to get out there and do things you've always said you are going to do, make time to do see the people you always say you are going to go see, help people that might need your help. It will be different for everyone of course but I do think it is worth picking up the book and seeing what happens.

A few excerpts from the book that really stood out to me, even though I have almost the entire book highlighted.

"I used to want to fix people, but now I just want to be with them."

"Jesus wasn't a religious guy. To me, Jesus sounded like an ordinary guy who was utterly amazing.  He helped people. He figured out what they needed and tried to point them toward that.  He healed people who were hurting.  He spent time with the kinds of people most of us spend our lives avoiding."

"I have an overwhelming sense of gratitude as I get older because I can see, both through the good times and the bad times, that God has been with me."

"I used to be afraid of failing at something that really mattered to me, but now I'm more afraid of succeeding at things that don't matter."

"I used to think God guided us by opening and closing doors, but now I know sometimes God wants us to kick some doors down."

"...and the last thing I want to do is miss an opportunity or make God Mad, so I just keep saying yes."

"I used to be afraid that if I was authentic I might take a hit, but now I know that being real means I will take a hit."

and last, I leave you with this quote as you go through your day,

"I want to be doing things today, not just flipping through crinkled and yellow mental pictures of what happened along time ago."

Cheryl Portraits - Oklahoma Photographer

kind, sweet, caring and an animal lover.

These are the words I would use to describe Cheryl.  We met a few years ago and I was happy we were able to make this shoot happen.  She loves her animals and they make an adorable family.  We met in Choctaw, Oklahoma at the horse barn where Cheryl keeps her horse and rides.  We had a great evening capturing what she loves through these photos.
