Oklahoma Wedding Photographer - Engagement Portraits Throwback

I love engagement photo shoots - being able to make the day an experience. I try to make each engagement session special & personal to the couple. I want it to be a part of the wedding planning that is fun & something you look back on and so glad you took the time to do it.  It is also a perfect time to get comfortable in front of the camera.  You getting to know & me getting to know you is extremely important because you will send a lot of time with your photographer on your wedding day so you don't want the first time you are in front of the camera to be on your wedding day - I include an engagement session with all my wedding packages for this reason.

I thought I would share a few engagement portraits from a few of my previous sessions.  I want to feature some of my engagement sessions to show the future engaged couples samples of what we can make happen.  All of these engagement sessions are from 2013, more to come from other sessions soon.

If you are planning your wedding I would love to add your date to the calendar. Send a message my way straight from my website.

The above images are of Jeff & Hayeli.  We spent the day in in Guthrie Oklahoma.  We were able to capture so many fun & romantic photos.

I love exploring and traveling - Zack, Jennifer & I met in Shawnee Oklahoma & went exploring & found some new spots.  When you find a heart with love graffiti in an alley way you  know you found a perfect spot for an engagement portrait.

These images were taken in El Reno Oklahoma.  I love old buildings and alleys.  Exploring is a fun part of the processes for engagement portraits because you walk and talk.

Casey & Ronna were so much fun!  We met in Guthrie Oklahoma & we captured so many fun photos of them laughing and enjoy enjoying being together.  I loved their style too.

I love personal touches. I encourage all my clients to bring any personal touches to their relationship.
Lee, Marilyn & I started at Myriad Gardens & then went exploring Automobile Alley.

I met Rocco & Nancy many years ago and their engagement shoot was my introduction to Turner Falls.  We spent the day in the water, climbing rocks, laying in waterfalls and going into caves.   I loved everything about this engagement shoot.  Tuner Falls is one of my favorite places in Oklahoma now & we didn't even make it through the entire park.
This engagement session took place at Will Rogers Park in Oklahoma City.  It was quiet possibly the hottest day of the year.  It was probably wont of the quickest engagement sessions I have ever done because we were all soaking wet from sweating about an hour after we started but we were still able to capture some really fun and romantic shots.  Thanks Mark & Amanda for dealing with the heat.

After seeing Rocco & Nancys engagement session at Turner Falls Kevin & Jessika also wanted to try it out.  We had the best time & found out you cannot bring dogs into the park. (hilarious story for another blog post).  It was a summer day and we ended the shoot with them both in the water.  I love that my clients are up for doing anything to get a great photo!

The above photos are taken in the gorgeous gardens at I Cross My Heart Wedding Chapel in Choctaw Oklahoma.  I have photographed several weddings at this location but it made for a perfect engagement session as well.  Tra & Trina worked my camera left and right.

One of my clients in-laws had an old barn that Brad, Emma & I met at.   We started early in the morning and there was some fantastic fog going on & it made for a great mood for the photos.

Kale & Nicole Engagement - Oklahoma Photographer

Kale, what is your favorite thing about Nicole?

"Her fiery spirit."

Nicole, what is your favorite thing about Kale?

"His smile and his biceps! Seriously I grab on those suckers any chance I get."

I had to start out with those quotes because I should have titled this blog, fiery spirit, smiles & biceps. I think we captured all of those in one photo shoot.

Every couple I photography is important to me.  I am thankful to be a small part in these twos love story. We started the engagement session in Guthrie, Oklahoma.  After the first click of the camera I knew this was going to be an engagement session for the Jared Wanzer Photography record books!

We ended the day with a gorgeous Oklahoma sunset at Lake Arcadia!

Nicole & I are members of the same club, Pictureaholics Anonymous & after this photo shoot we would like to welcome Kale to the club.

2013 Engagements - Jared Wanzer Photography Top Models

seeing couples in love,

capturing them laughing,

creating a relationship with each client.

These are just a few things I love about engagement portraits.

Photography is extremely personal to me and capturing the love that a couple has for each other is such a great feeling, to get to do what you love is a great feeling. These are photos that someday they will show their grand kids.

My main goal with each engagement session is to have fun, make the couple comfortable in front of the camera & make the shoot about them. All of these couples were up for anything and everythings and we had a great time and we captured it all.  I wanted to share my 2013 engagement sessions with you, to give you a sample of what I love to do.  All of these were taken all over Oklahoma, I love exploring and finding new places for each photo.  I will be doing a blog on each of these soon.

Brandon & Carlson Portraits - Oklahoma Photographer

Carlson has helped me so much at several of my photo shoots for her best friend Katie, who is one of my brides. I have loved getting to know her and Brandon through Katie & Ben.  We met in Guthrie and worked some great sunset light and then had some good ol Mexican food after, we only photographed the sunset not the Mexican food. Thank you both for being Jared Wanzer Photography Top Models, you are both fantastic people!

KATIE BRIDAL – OKLAHOMA WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER

Bugs
Blood
Sweat
& lip stick!
Katie’s bridal portrait day!!! This was a fantastic bridal session. Katie's mom came and her friend Carlson. I am pretty sure 2 pictures into the photo-shoot Katie got lip stick, she skinned her elbow & bugs were in & around her dress. She definitely had it rough but was a Jared Wanzer Photography trouper all the way, she wasn’t even phased & as you will see in the pictures she is a top of the line model & loves the camera & my camera loves her! I found several new spots in Guthrie and probably could have spent all day there but we wanted to make it to several locations. We went to Arcadia on the way back and were able to get into a wheat field which also made for some fantastic shots. She seriously can work the camera like no bodies business. We then headed downtown for this great place with ivy everywhere and it looked PERFECT.
Another reason I LOVVVVVED this shoot is because she had a veil, a head piece a bouquet and then a piece of the bouquet that was cut out into a butterfly we put in her hair at the end. We used them all but used them all at the different locations which I think that added so much character to the shoot. So many fantastic facial expressions and loved her dress and every single thing about it.
Afterward we went to Zios and we were all plum tuckered out but it was definitely a good feeling to be tuckered out from what you love to do!
I had the hardest time waiting to post these images until after Ben & Katie’s Wedding so here we go!
